about the book The republic of plato translated and with an interpretive essay by Allan Bloom “”book 5” page 127-161

In Book 5, Socrates makes some proposals that are truly radical and shocking. The truth appears to take a back seat with the need for a ‘ throng of lies and deceptions for the benefit of the ruled’. Eugenics is used for good breeding, and citizens are treated like livestock. Families are abolished for the guardians and auxiliaries. And philosophers must be forced to rule. Remember that this is the account given to us by Plato, Socrates’ most famous student. Why do you think Socrates constructs the Just City in this way in the book?
