Psych 2080 case study

Review the case study below after reading the Chapter and any additional readings in the module.

Use the information from the Chapter, any additional readings in the module, and the DSM 5 TR only to complete the case study.  You will answer the following questions in paragraph format.  No bullets, no numbers.  It should be descriptive and well-written.

Write an opening paragraph indicating the problem that the client is experiencing, including any symptoms that are reported in the case study.  Given the disorders discussed in the Chapter, identify a diagnosis for the client. There’s only one correct answer. Be certain to provide evidence for this diagnosis based on the symptoms described in this case, the criteria outlined in your textbook, any supplementary readings in the module, and the DSMV TR criteria.

After thoroughly substantiating the diagnosis, pick one of the theoretical perspectives below.  Your book describes these theoretical perspectives and explains the etiology of the disorder.  Explain in detail the etiology using only one of the following perspectives.  Remember to identify the components of the perspective and the person credited for the perspective.  No general, non descriptive statements.  This assignment evaluates your knowledge of the theories and disorders gained from the chapter readings and your ability to use critical thinking to apply this knowledge.

Remember to use in-text citations to reference the sources within the assignment and a Reference list at the end.

Theoretical Perspectives: Psychoanalytic/Psychodynamic Cognitive-Behavioral, Humanistic.

Case Study 2

Jessica is a 28-year-old married female. She has a demanding, high-stress job as a second-year medical resident in a large hospital. Jessica has always been a high
achiever. She graduated with top honors in both college and medical school. She has very high standards for herself and can be very self-critical when she fails to meet
them. Lately, she has struggled with significant feelings of worthlessness and shame due to her inability to perform and always has in the past.  Jessica has felt unusually tired for the past few weeks and found it increasingly difficult to concentrate at work. Her coworkers have noticed that she is often irritable and withdrawn, which is quite different from her typically upbeat and friendly disposition. Jessica has called in sick several times, which is entirely unlike her. On those days, she stays in bed all day, watching TV or sleeping.  At home, Jessica’s husband has noticed changes as well. She’s shown little interest in sex and has difficulty falling asleep at night. Her insomnia keeps him awake as she tosses and turns for an hour or two after they go to bed. He’s overheard her having frequent tearful phone conversations with her closest friend, which worried him. When he tries to get her to open up about what’s bothering her, she pushes him away with an abrupt “Everything’s fine.”  Although she hasn’t ever considered suicide, Jessica has become increasingly dissatisfied with her life. She’s been having frequent thoughts of wishing she was
dead. She gets frustrated with herself because she feels like she has every reason to be happy, yet she can’t seem to shake the doom and gloom that has been clouding each day as of late.
